Bogolanfini or mudcloth is hand-woven and hand-dyed by the Bamana, a Mande speaking people of Mali. It is a living art form, with techniques passed down through generations of women. The black color is made from a fermented mud that is rich in iron, and the yellow from the leaves of the Cengura tree.

Because the mudcloth is hand-dyed, the pattern on each bag is unique and will vary. Shown in black leather, also available in brown leather.

Our vertical satchel is a great around-town bag, excellent for carrying notebooks, books, and the other small necessities of a busy life.
