Mudcloth Kit Bag
Bogolanfini or mudcloth is hand-woven and hand-dyed by the Bamana, a Mande speaking people of Mali. It is a living art form, with techniques passed down through generations of women. The black color is made from a fermented mud that is rich in iron, and the yellow from the leaves of the Cengura tree. Leather ends and a leather strap embellished with antique African brass rings complete this bag for the sailor just in from exotic lands.
Handcrafted in our studio in Maine. 17" x 8" x 8". Mudcloth, leather, antique African brass rings, solid brass hardware, zipper. (Shown with black leather).
