Mudcloth Canteen Bag
Bogolanfini or mudcloth is hand-woven and hand-dyed by the Bamana, a Mande speaking people of Mali. It is a living art form, with techniques passed down through generations of women. The black color is made from a fermented mud that is rich in iron, and the yellow from the leaves of the Cengura tree. Because the mudcloth is hand-dyed, the pattern on each bag is unique and will vary.
Inspired by the shape of military Canteen bags, our version is a round shoulder bag.
Handcrafted in our studio in Maine. 10" diameter x 3". Leather, solid brass hardware, zipper. (Shown in brown leather).
